Beach bungalow holiday’s story to its customer is that no matter where you go, the good vibes of comfort and beach living are guaranteed at their semi-luxury holiday rentals— ‘exactly what you expect’ - a retreat from the modern phenomena of non-stop days. The graphics are familiar, the colours warm, and the tone expansive - all to indicate the benefit of a beach holiday. The oranges and yellows of sunset, and the blues and greens of the ocean, are to be found in all aspects of the visual identity, as well as a playful pattern in one of the two main word marks.
Quiet Press were launching with six titles and a hundred ahead of them — the identity had to look quietly inevitable on every cover, without locking the editor into one aesthetic for the next twenty years.
The reference shelf was demanding: Fitzcarraldo, Mack, Spector — every easy answer had already been taken.
We designed the imprint as a typographic chassis, not a cover style — a strict spine and back-cover system, with the front left almost free for each title's own argument.
The imprint reads as one shelf. No two covers look related.
